About Jeff Steitzer

I am quickly approaching my 50th year as a professional actor. Early on, I recognized that if I was going to be able to carve out a career in the wildly competitive profession that I had chosen I was going to need to do whatever I could to—how do I put this?—just keep going. If that meant taking whatever stage work came my way, then that was what I would do—and did. Once I had established myself as an actor, I took opportunities whenever and wherever they arose. Acting on stage brought me to the attention of commercial producers, so I began to do voiceovers. It also drew the attention of local Seattle casting directors which led to work in films and TV. When I was given the chance to direct, I jumped at it and, over the years, I have directed 180 productions for the stage. When I was approached to teach for the University of Washington’s Professional Actor Training program—or PATP—I said, “YES!” When I got an audition for an audiobook I was delighted when I was cast. When the chance to do video games presented itself, I happily added them to the list of things I do. I’ve also modeled for a magazine ad, recorded corporate narration and role played a defendant in a mock trial for a gathering of lawyers.

I am very well aware that I have been the recipient of an astonishing amount of good luck. That, and the willingness to take chances and work hard have allowed me to achieve my early goal, to just keep going..

And I still am.
